Tuesday March 9 saw the successful re-launch of Harrow TUC. 15 trade unionists came together to build on the months of preparatory work making contacts in the area.
GLATUC President Mary Adossides chaired the meeting which saw the election of a raft of officers.
The meeting got off to a rousing start with Guest Speaker Joanne Harris from Unite’s London Bus Committee. She covered the current strike action taking place on several London routes as pay, terms and conditions are under attack. Joanne also referred to the allout strike on the Go-Ahead buses in Manchester.
The meeting included attendance by past officers of the Trades Council who welcome the re-launch. The Chair noted the many younger trade unionists attending from communities across the borough and the number of women – all of which boded well for the future of the TC.
